- SPLENDA® Granulated combines the great taste of sugar with incredible heat stability so that it can be used in cooking and baking. It is appropriate for people on calorie-reduced or sugar-free diets and is free of the unpleasant aftertaste that is often associated with some other artificial sweeteners.
- How sweet is a Packet of SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener?
Each SPLENDA® Packet sweetens like two teaspoons of sugar. SPLENDA® Packets are great to add sweetness to your coffee, tea, cereal or fruit and are convenient to use anytime, anywhere. They are perfect to take with you while you are traveling!
If you are interested in baking, SPLENDA® Granulated and SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend can be used virtually everywhere sugar is used for sweetening and is highly recommended for cooking and baking.

- How do I modify my recipe for SPLENDA® products?
Here are some hints so you can adapt your favourite recipes and bake with SPLENDA® sweeteners.
When baking with SPLENDA® Granulated:
- The best results are achieved when SPLENDA® Granulated is mixed with the dry ingredients.
- SPLENDA® Granulated can be directly substituted for sugar if the recipe calls for up to 1 1/4 cups of sugar.
- If the recipe calls for more than 1 1/4 cups of sugar and double the amount of flour, then SPLENDA® Granulated can be directly substituted for sugar in your recipe.
- If the recipe calls for more than 1 1/4 cups of sugar and less than double the amount of flour, then use equal parts of SPLENDA® Granulated and sugar. This indicates that the sugar is now giving the baked good volume.
- For recipes which call for liquid sweetener, simply multiply the quantity by 4 and replace with SPLENDA® Granulated.
When baking with SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend:
- Can be used anywhere that brown sugar is used.
- Only use 1/2 cup SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend to achieve the sweetness and performance expected from a full cup of brown sugar.

- How do I use SPLENDA® products?
SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener can be used virtually everywhere sugar is used.
For your coffee and tea, SPLENDA® Packets are ideal; the sweetener won't fizz or float on your drink. The packets are also great for sprinkling on cereal and fruit.
SPLENDA® Granulated measures just like sugar for all of your cooking and baking needs. And now, SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend can be used anywhere brown sugar is required.

- Can SPLENDA® be used to make candy, fudge, caramel?
- The sugar content of fudge, caramel and other candy, angel food and pound cakes, and many meringues provides an important structural component which does not allow easy substitution with SPLENDA® Granulated. Complete substitution with SPLENDA® in these recipes is not recommended.
- Can I substitute SPLENDA® for icing sugar?
SPLENDA® Granulated can be substituted for icing sugar. But for best results, we recommend trying our recipe for Powdered Sugar and using this in place of icing sugar. It is also great to use for garnishing cakes and pastries!

- Can I make jam or jelly with SPLENDA®?
You can substitute SPLENDA® Granulated cup-for-cup in place of the sugar in your favorite jam recipe. The yield will be slightly less due to the lightweight quality of SPLENDA®.
Freezer jam recipes are the most successful to use with SPLENDA®. As many recipes indicate, it's important not to let your jam preparations stand at room temperature overnight. This is especially important with jams made with SPLENDA® since sucralose, the sweetener in SPLENDA®, doesn't have the same preserving characteristics as sugar.
SPLENDA® Granulated will also work in cooked jam recipes. You may find that your jam has a softer set. For better results, try boiling the jam longer than the recipe calls for. Reducing the liquid will help you get a firmer set.
SPLENDA® is not recommends for jellies. The setting agent in jelly recipes needs regular sugar to work properly.
- Can I make bread with SPLENDA®?
Unlike regular sugar, when SPLENDA® Granulated is combined with yeast in bread recipes it does not rise. So, SPLENDA® is not recommended for making regular yeast breads.
However, when making a sweet bread, SPLENDA® can be substituted for sugar if it is not being used with the yeast.
- How do I convert to SPLENDA®?
To convert measures, you need to determine what amount of sugar is required in cups. For example, 100 grams of sugar is equivalent to 1/2 cup of sugar.
SPLENDA® Granulated measures just like sugar. 1 cup of SPLENDA® Granulated is equivalent to 1 cup of white sugar.
SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend requires only 1/2 the amount in recipes that ask for brown sugar, so 1/2 cup of SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend is equivalent to 1 cup of brown sugar.
- Can SPLENDA® be used for canning and preserving?
Canning, preserving and pickling are very successful with SPLENDA® Granulated. Good canning procedures are very important as SPLENDA® doesn't have the same antibacterial and preservative properties as white sugar.
To maintain the bright colour of your fruit, we recommend adding lemon juice or ascorbic acid to your recipes.
