This recipe is:

2 cups (500 mL) quick cooking oats

3/4 cup (175 mL) SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated

1 tsp (5 mL) ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp (1/2 mL) butter-flavoured sprinkles*

1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt

*butter-flavoured sprinkles are a great way to add flavour, not calories to your cooking. They can be found in most grocery stores.

In a plastic bag or airtight container, combine all ingredients. Store until ready for use. Shake mix together when you are ready to use.

Microwave Cooking Directions:

Place 1/3 cup (75 mL) oat mixture in a microwave-safe bowl. Add 2/3 cup (150 mL) water. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until desired consistency is reached. Stir and serve. 

NOTE:  Makes 1 serving
Stove-Top Cooking Directions:

In a small saucepan over high heat, bring 2/3 cup (150 ml) water to a brisk boil.

Add 1/3 cup (75 ml) oat mixture and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Let stand until desired consistency is reached.

NOTE:  Makes 1 serving

Flavour Variations:

Maple Spice Flavour - For each serving of oatmeal, stir in 1/8 (1/2 mL) teaspoon imitation maple flavouring and 1/8 butter-flavoured sprinkles (1/2 mL) into oatmeal before cooking.

Apple Spice Flavour - For each serving of oatmeal, stir in 1 pinch nutmeg into oatmeal before cooking and 2 tablespoons (30 mL) applesauce after cooking.
